About this event

A free online talk for parent carers of children & young people (age up to 25 years old) by Claire Harvey from The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre. The talk will be delivered via Zoom and will cover the following areas:

  • Definition and discussion of dyslexia
  • Common areas of difficulty experienced by dyslexic learners  (phonological awareness, memory, processing speed, visual processing difficulties)
  • Positive traits associated with dyslexia
  • How to build self-esteem
  • Advantages of multi-sensory teaching including appealing to visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners
  • Tips to support reading
  • Tips to support reading comprehension
  • Tips to support spelling
  • Tips to support writing

There will also be time for discussion and questions.

The Zoom joining details will be sent to attendees by email prior to the event.
